MYFOXNY.COM – A new study found that food allergies in children are more common and more severe than previously thought. Researchers that 1 in 12 U.S. children has a food allergy. The most common food allergies are peanuts, milk and shellfish.
Of the kids with food allergies, 39 percent had severe reactions in the past and 30 percent had more than one food allergy. The results of the study appear in an article in Pediatrics , the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Clifford Bassett, medical director at Allergy and Asthma Care of New York, comes to Fox 5 News to weigh in on this study.
