When you have a sinus infection and you go to the doctor, you want something to make the pressure and pain to go away, right away.
Don’t be surprised or upset if your doctor doesn’t prescribe antibiotics.
Dr. Clifford Bassett with the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology says in many cases, they won’t help.
“Many sinus infections are actually caused by viruses. Viral infections are not treated successfully with antibiotics,” Dr. Bassett said.
